GM Engenharia is part of the project team of the industrial unit, aimed at the transformation of cannabis for medicinal purposes. The complex is equipped with advanced technology for the extraction, distillation and purification of oils, as well as physical chemistry and quality control laboratories.
The industrial unit reflects growing market openness and acceptance in relation to products derived from cannabis, marking a significant advance in the Portuguese pharmaceutical industry. The plant covers approximately 20,000 m² of usable interior space. The use of this type of products, legal in Portugal since 2019, is indicated in cases of chronic pain associated with oncological diseases, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and other medical applications.
GM was responsible for the environmental control systems study, both for production areas and for comfort areas, including mechanical air conditioning systems and the Building Management System, which allows automatic control of the facilities, ensuring that temperature and humidity conditions and air velocity are maintained within the ideal parameters for the conservation of the raw material, the efficiency of the transformation processes, and subsequent storage.
In addition to raw material storage and conservation units, the complex includes physico-chemical analysis and quality control laboratories. The manufacturing unit is dedicated to the extraction, distillation and purification of cannabis oils, as well as the preparation of raw materials for other industries.
